Nektarinaa AKA Nina is a visual designer and an illustrator currently based in Malmö, Sweden.
Hej, Nina. Can you tell us a little bit about your tape and your song selections?
The mixtape is called Laganini, which translates to “calmly, easily”. In my mind it’s connected with the warmth of the summer days and nights. I wanted to capture a few moments from a journey to my home island. It starts with the solitary drink of a bland ferry coffee, and it ends anchored on a boat in the middle of the calm starlit sea. Those moments are translated in the mixtape which starts with vivid songs and ends up with spacey vibes. It dissolves and reaches tranquillity.
What direction did you take with your cover art, and what was your process?
I wanted to create a cover with three scenes, but it ended up to be one starry and nostalgic visual. I played with different combinations of dark and light, chasing a fading feeling, leading to a final atmospheric illustration.
What are your fave album covers, records with a great music and artwork combo, or musical projects with a visual component?
The last album cover I vividly remember is Mystic Familiar from Dan Deacon, designed by Cristina Daura. I’m very fond of that narrative style in illustration.
Musical projects with visual components — does Rocky Horror Picture Show count? :)

What did you listen to growing up?
Any pirate CD I could get my hands on. I would also listen to the local radio, finding joy in the rare gems. As for the authors, my high school favourites were various ex-YU and post-punk bands, The Kinks, Pink Floyd and David Bowie.
And what’s on heavy rotation for you at the moment?
Špurijus; an alternative band from Split, Croatia. I like their punk and ska moments.
What’s happening in your creative world at the moment?
Not much to be honest. I had a rough patch, so I decided to take a hiatus. While I’m charging my batteries, you can check my previous work :)
Where can we find you?
