Hey Martina! Can you tell us a little bit about your tape and your song selections?
This tape is inspired by all the car journeys with my Dad over the years and the tunes he plays. I hadn’t realised initially how hard it would be to cull the selection to an hour and a half; considering though the music spans over five decades I shouldn’t have been surprised. I think this is a coherent collection and I know my Dad will love it. A lot of his favourites couldn’t make this cut so I’ve kept the longlist and that can be listened to if he’s ever on a lengthy journey.
What direction did you take with your cover art, and what was your process?
As well as music, my Dad loves landscape photography so I wanted to include something scenic. A country view from the dashboard felt like a great idea. I wanted to keep it simple with a limited colour palette and this sums up the feeling of a car ride with Dad just perfectly.
What are your fave album covers, records with a great music and artwork combo, or musical projects with a visual component?
I love album artwork and a while ago I started a project where I recreated covers as if they belonged in The Simpsons universe. I need to make some more of these!Bush – Snoop Dogg

Growing up in the 90s/00s I listened a lot to the radio and made my own mix tapes on cassettes. They’re probably still in my parents attic somewhere! 5ive, Britney, Whitney, Sum 41 and All American Rejects were some faves I remember loving.
I still dive into old playlists and immerse myself in 90s/00s music and indulge the nostalgia. If I hear Natalie Imbruglia’s ’Torn’ I’m instantly transported back to being in the car with my Mum heading to primary school.
And what’s on heavy rotation for you at the moment?
Glass Animals, St. Vincent and Kacey Musgraves.
What’s happening in your creative world at the moment?
I’ve just finished the branding for an ice cream/coffee place. Next up on the agenda is working on the packaging for coffee cups etc. Normally I work a lot with pencil on paper and Photoshop but this project was all in Adobe Illustrator. This felt a little like learning to ride a bicycle again as I rarely work in vector, though it’s coming together grand. Bring back the pixels though for my next project!
