* * *

Hey Taarini. Can you tell us a little bit about your tape and your song selections?

There's time and music that makes us feel like we’re floating in space, my tape is a collection of exactly such songs. I hope it helps you pause today and get a breather!

What direction did you take with your cover art, and what was your process?

I wanted to draw my version of space, with cotton candy clouds, sprinkles and our shiny satellite. I drew this on paper and then coloured and finished up digitally.

What are your fave album covers, records with a great music and artwork combo, or musical projects with a visual component?

“All I Wanna Do” [single] – Jakob
2019, Playground Music

This is the album art for a single by Jakob Ogawa called “All I Wanna Do”, I love all the music he makes and I like everything about this album art, I think it's a great photograph, lovely composition, lighting and everything.

JINJI KIKKO [EP]– Sunset Rollercoaster
2016, 自主練習 / Big Romantic Records
Design: Lin Showme, Su Sheng Yang, Sylvia Hsu

I also love this album art and song - “My Jinji” by Sunset Rollercoaster. The visual treatment and colours are what I like in particular.

Te Ao Mārama – Lorde
2019, OBE / Empire
Artwork: Robert Beatty

I really like this album art for Free Nationals and their music too.

What did you listen to growing up?

My father loves music and my older brother  and I have grown up hearing all kinds of stuff since we were young. We always have something being played at home at all times :)

Artists ranged from Abida Parveen, Hemant Kumar, Mehndi Hassan to John Denver, Don Williams, The Carpenters, Everly Brothers.

And what’s on heavy rotation for you at the moment?

I absolutely love Julia Jacklin, Mohammed Rafi, Faith Healer & Sticky Fingers.

What’s happening in your creative world at the moment?

I recently started working at a design research and innovation consultancy in Goa called Quicksand and will soon be moving to Goa. So a lot of new projects to work on and wonderful new people to meet and learn from! Besides that, some ceramic experiments and lots of hikes and adventures with my wonder dog. Looking forward to that!

Where can we find you

Thanks Taarini!
